Starknet
A ZK rollup using the Cairo language and STARK proofs, with its own virtual machine rather than the EVM.
Starknet is StarkWare’s ZK rollup, with a mainnet running since late 2021. It uses STARK proofs and, instead of Ethereum’s EVM, its own virtual machine programmed in the Cairo language.
The STRK token launched in 2024, and the network has been expanding into token staking and bitcoin-linked DeFi.

How it looks in the city
It sits in the ZK quarter north of downtown, drawn in purple tones. Vehicles on its roads are transactions per second, and the container trucks heading downtown carry the data and proofs it posts to L1. Building height is the market cap of this district’s main token.
