Polygon zkEVM
Polygon’s zkEVM rollup. It was shut down on July 1, 2026, so this is now an empty district where no new blocks are produced.
Polygon zkEVM is the zkEVM rollup Polygon opened in March 2023; it was once regarded as Polygon’s flagship scaling technology.
After Polygon decided to concentrate on the Agglayer, which links many chains, the shutdown was announced in June 2025, and the chain stopped on July 1, 2026 when its sequencer went offline. The city keeps the site of the former chain as an empty district.

How it looks in the city
It sits in the ZK quarter north of downtown, drawn in purple tones. Vehicles on its roads are transactions per second, and the container trucks heading downtown carry the data and proofs it posts to L1. It has no token of its own, so building height is computed from deposited assets (TVL) instead of market cap and drawn as a wide civic block. This chain was shut down on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, so it now stands as an empty district with no traffic and is left out of the traffic report and the “best to send on” list.
