BNB Chain
An independent L1 grown by the Binance exchange. It runs the EVM, so the same apps work as-is, but its own validators secure it, so it connects to Ethereum only through bridges. The busiest satellite town.
BNB Chain (BNB Smart Chain) is an independent L1 opened by the Binance exchange in September 2020. It runs the Ethereum Virtual Machine, so Ethereum apps work almost unchanged, but a small set of staked validators produces its blocks and it does not use Ethereum’s security.
Cheap fees and high transaction counts have drawn memecoins and consumer apps. It connects to Ethereum through Binance-issued pegged tokens and several bridges. Upgrades in 2025 cut its block interval below one second. Gas is paid in BNB.

How it looks in the city
It is a satellite town on an island out at sea. Because its own validators secure it rather than Ethereum, the city draws it as linked to the mainland only by a bridge. Building height is the market cap of this district’s main token.
