Blast

An L2 that paid native yield on ETH and stablecoins. It announced its shutdown on 2 October 2026 and is winding down while users withdraw.

Blast is an L2 whose mainnet opened at the end of February 2024, built around native yield: ETH and stablecoins held there earned interest automatically. More than $2 billion was deposited before launch, but activity fell sharply after the 2024 token distribution.

On 2 October 2026 it announced that it would shut down, saying the cost of running the chain had outgrown its revenue. Withdrawals through the official interface are open until 26 October; after that, users have to call the bridge contracts on Ethereum directly. In the city the traffic still runs, but this district is about to close.

How it looks in the city

It sits in the Superchain quarter west of downtown, drawn in red tones. Vehicles on its roads are transactions per second, and the container trucks heading downtown are the data it posts to L1. Building height is the market cap of this district’s main token. It announced its shutdown on Friday, October 2, 2026; withdrawals through its official interface are open until Monday, October 26, 2026. Blocks are still being produced, so the traffic keeps running here, but the district is left out of the “best to send on” lists.
